Brennecke Gale

Hometown: Gypsum, CO
Major: BS Human Biology, MA Earth Systems
Three! Things! I! Love! Go trail running and hiking in the Santa Cruz mountains, play tennis (and embrace amateur-ism!), and go to farmer's markets
I could talk all day about creative writing, narrative journalism, the intersection of science and writing, marine biology, human-environmental systems and community-engaged work, science education, what home means to you, family and familial relations, the rural american west
I'd love to connect with folks who have experience with environmental management, science writing and education, environmental communication, journalism, environmental consulting

After working Ski Dock in 2021 and Ski Dock Head in 2022, Brennecke is returning to Camp again because it is a place where she feels like she is becoming the best version of herself, because of the people she's surrounded by. Brennecke grew up in Gypsum, a small town in the mountains of Colorado, and she's constantly reflecting on how her home and her (large!) family have helped shape her. She's endlessly interested in creative writing of all kinds, and especially in how writing and narrative storytelling intersect with science, environmentalism, and communication in general. She's currently pursuing a Master's in Environmental Communication, which could take her down many, many pathways! She's excited to keep exploring what they might be. Brennecke is also fascinated by medicine, sports and sports movies, theater, folk music, and baked goods.
