Description

Native to USA, introduced into Europe. A thick tufted plant. The stems are erect, smooth and triangular. Directly underneath the umbel are 4-7 bracts, grass-like structures. Distinguished from other sedges by its globular, yellow-green flowerheads.

Grows in moist, muddy soil or shallow water.

Tight, rounded, green yellow or beige spikelets.

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Blade, grass-like, 2-10 mm wide.
