Fresh fragrant nose of honey and hay, citrus fruit, linden blossom and hints of herbs like thyme. On the palate a wonderfully deep acidity, plump yet light as a feather, highly elegant creaminess, exotic fruits like passion fruit. Incredibly cool, delicate sweetness.

It's hard to choose a favorite among Dr. Loosen's spectacular lineup of 2017 auslesen but the Gold Capsule stands out for its stalwart intensity. It's delicate on the nose but preserved yellow-peach and mango flavors are explosive and penetrating. Dustings of earth, saffron and honeycomb lend nuance to the midpalate—a rich and mouthcoating sip that will gain complexity for decades. Anna Lee C. Iijima

Whiffs of fresh paper and dusty mineral balance exuberant grapefruit, honey and yellow apple in this creamy, late-release auslese. It's lusciously textured and lip-smackingly sweet yet balanced by zesty acidity and a spry mineral freshness. Stunning already, it will only improve through 2030, and likely hold further. Anna Lee C. It's hard to find a favorite within Dr. Loosen's excellent line up of 2015 auslese, but this bottling stands out for its kaleidoscope of fruit, floral and earthen complexities. Sumptuous and ripe, fleshy white peach and grapefruit flavors undulate on the palate. It's finely framed, edged by sharp lines of slate, spine-tingling acidity and swathes of fennel and earth. The finish feels fragile, laced in sweetness and lingering.

Dulcet peach, apricot and citrus sweetness extends languorously from nose to finish in this powerfully ripe, hedonistic wine. It's dancing and delicate in frame, yet unctuously juicy, filling the mouth with a blanket of luminous fruit. Sprightly tangerine acidity and delicate tea-leaf tannins lend structure to a long, penetrating finish. It's irresistible already but should continue to drink well for decades.

Fascinating aromas that are constantly changing: kumquat, ginger, apple chips, apricot juice and saffron we imagine. I wonder how it is possible to give such freshness and elegance to a honey-sweet juice? Try for yourself!

Aromas of slate and flowering rock garden, sage, lemon peel. Creamy palate with substantial fruit, silky, flowing, and sweetness, acidity and minerality form an amalgam. It has immense length, and is tense and relaxed at the same time.

Waxy lemon rind and white floral notes are an elegant introduction to this gorgeously complex Riesling. The palate is delicately framed, yet deeply penetrating, with unctuous honey and citrus flavors laced with saffron and spice. Shrieking acidity shakes everything up and lingers long on the finish.

Sprightly and crisp, with justalcohol, this dainty Riesling is juicy and brisk, with loads of sweet-tart tangerine flavor. Layers of bitter citrus rind and lanolin, along with a steely midpalate, add depth, extending to a long, lemony finish.

The wine's floral aromas and somewhat restrained fruit on the nose strike a refined tone, while on the palate the wine is lush, round and sweet, buoyed by bright pineapple, peach and lime flavors. Finishes long and sleekly elegant.

This is thick, rich and very beerenauslese-like, combining honey and dried apricot aromas with similar flavors and a touch of candied pineapple. It's sweeter and richer than the regular auslese, but only more appealing for true sugar hounds, who'll admire its extreme viscosity and long, mouthcoating finish.

Deftly illustrates why auslese is the ripeness level favored by so many cognoscenti, as the wine still retains some flinty, slaty minerality to go along with the layers of ripe fruit. Honey and bergamot are joined by plump melon flavors and all of these notes come together ina crescendo on the succulent, mouthwatering finish.

Unlike many botrytis-affected wines, this wine retains a strong sense of minerality, with oily aromas that remain strong amid the swirl of dried apricot and poached pear scents. Sweet and viscous, but beautifully balanced by lively acidity and a stony core. Long and mouthwatering on the finish

(2006) Lovely Botrytis here, with the most delicate honey and guava and lychee exotic fruit. Masses of sweetness here, with a waxy quality to it, like nectarine and white peach skins, with a beautiful poised juiciness. The fruit is just beautifully refined and limpidly pure, and the delicacy and poise of the finely tuned, mineral acidity just keeps it perfectly balanced and compellingly complete and poised.

A bit of a let down, this is big, rich and oily, redolent of honeyed apples, but lacks the precision and clarity of some of Loosen's other 2001s. It's still very good, close to a beerenauslese in ripeness and weight, just somewhat monolithic and weighty, picking up some lemon and apricot notes on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
