The latest Global Parliamentary Forum took place virtually on the side lines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings October 6, 10 and 11, 2022. The forum, co-organized by the World Bank Group, the IMF and the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, engages parliamentarians in a dialogue on development and matters related to the global economy, with discussions between MPs, experts from the World Bank Group and the IMF, and other stakeholders.

Investing in People, Transforming Communities: Human Capital Results in Africa

This high-level event highlighted results stories and interventions from World Bank crises response and recovery efforts, including the unveiling of a virtual field visit showcasing four human capital projects in three countries (Kenya, Madagascar and Rwanda), and the Western and Central Africa Education Strategy, both demonstrating examples of successful programs that can be duplicated, helping countries and governments prioritize people and build a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future.

This second Parliamentary Dialogue Series event brought World Bank and IMF experts together with parliamentarians to discuss gender equality and women’s economic inclusion. This session highlighted findings from the Women Business and the Law 2022 Report and an IMF working paper, and addressed how parliamentarians everywhere can help nurture economic recovery and to accelerate action towards gender equality – #AccelerateEquality.

Over 200 participants from 61 countries attended the 2018 Global Parliamentary Conference on April 16-17, where they had the opportunity to discuss pressing global concerns directly with the World Bank President Jim Yong Kim and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde.
