Description and Growing Information
General Description | Deciduous shrub reaching 8 m tall with rough brown or silvery grey bark, mid-green leaves and white, star-shaped spring flowers. |
Shape | A conical, deciduous tree. |
Propagation | By softwood or greenwood cuttings from late spring to early summer or by semi-hardwood cuttings from late summer to autumn. |
Cultivation | Grow in moist, humus-rich, well-drained neutral to acid soil in sun or part shade with shelter from cold winds. Late frosts may damage flower buds. |
Pests | Scale insects, coral spot, honey fungus and phytophthora root rot. |
Leaf Description | Aromatic, oval leaves, to 12 cm long, with pale undersides. |
