This auction is for a pair of Neorapana grandis (Sowerby, 1835) Very rare and on the red list now. All shelling is forbidden in the Galapagos Island chain now. THese are from my personal collection and are over 25 years old. Both shells have the operculum and are in spectacular condition for the species which is usually very erroded and broken up from the surf,. BOth are between 2-3 inches long. THey are in the Muricidae family. THese came from Baha Isabel, Fernandina Island (Narborough Island) Galapagos Islands Ecuador. Taken on rocksat 5-10 meters by dive and were collected by local people. I collected shells for almost 25 years. I sold my collection in 2007 when i retired. I found a box recently in storage and I am selling them all. Some of these shells are from the Galapogas Islands, Ecuador and may be on the red list. I think all shell collecting there is forbidden now. I collected these shells almost 30 years ago. Most are one of a kind and you will never see them offered for sale.
