Travis Reid Surfaces As COO At RealD

Travis Reid, who was head of distribution at Broad Green Pictures before exiting that company last month, has joined RealD as the 3D company’s Chief Operating Officer where he will oversee all operations. Reid is well known in the industry, having held executive positions with exhibition as well as with cinema and technology companies. He was CEO of Screenvision, CEO of Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP) and CEO of Loews Cineplex Entertainment.

While at DCIP he executed the financing and oversaw the initial stages of the company’s 15,000-screen conversion to digital cinema along with negotiating long term contracts with all the major studios.

Reid will report to RealD’s CEO Michael V. Lewis and will be based out of the company’s Beverly Hills’ offices. Over the years, Reid helped oversee early industry-wide conversion to digital cinema so the transition should be an easy one.

RealD was founded in 2003 and has grown over the years to set up offices in Boulder, CO, London, Moscow, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo. In China, it has a deal with Wanda Cinema Line Corp. to install about 4,000 screens. RealD boasts the largest 3D cinema platform in the world with over of 28,000 current installations and an agreement for 7,000 (including Wanda) coming.
