So, we won't say that our lives were boring before Firefly Lane aired on Netflix—but we will say we are sure excited knowing season 2: part 1 is available for streaming now! Especially since this means we have more Kate Mularkey content to ponder over. Don't get us wrong, we love us some Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl)! But there's something about that shy-but-sassy personality and those self-deprecating but hilariously-witty comments that draws us into Kate in a whole different way. And though we know that Firefly Lane season 2 marks the end of its run, we can still count on part 2 (which releases in June) to give us another surplus of all the Kate scenes we all love.

But we thought it would be nice to dig deeper into the actress behind the character we adore so much: Sarah Chalke. We think it's safe to say that we know Kate pretty well. But have you wondered how similar Sarah and her character might be? (If at all!) Not only that, but Sarah does seem pretty familiar. And that might be because she had gigs in two popular shows (plus a bunch of other roles you may have seen her in).

So, we're here to answer the burning question: What is Sarah Chalke up to now? Read on for a brief overview of Sarah's seasoned career and some other interesting facts about the actress!

You likely remember Sarah from “Scrubs” and “Roseanne.” But she's also on “Rick and Morty” too.

Fun fact: Sarah was pretty young during her role as Becky on Roseanne. She was just 16! (According to the Toronto Star.) Sarah entered the sitcom during the show's last four years, specifically from 1993-1997. And when producers decided to do a brief spinoff in 2018 (The Conners), Sarah was there for that, too!

After she left Roseanne, she only became more of a household name. Sarah played Ted’s almost-wife Stella in How I Met Your Mother; Melanie in Speechless; Merrill in Friends From College; Gina in Paradise PD; and many more. But of course, her most popular role after Roseanne was Dr. Elliot Reid in Scrubs—the hit medical comedy that ran from 2001-2010.

What you may not realize is that Sarah is also a major part of the animated series Rick and Morty, where she’s voiced Beth since 2013. So cool!

Is Sarah married?

Sarah got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Jamie Afifi back in 2006, and they share two children together: 11-year-old son, Charlie, and 4-year-old daughter, Frankie. It’s unclear if Sarah ever officially tied the knot with James, an entertainment lawyer, but they were still happily together in 2019, according to Us Weekly.

She clearly loves being a mom, and often shares fun tidbits about her family life on social media. (Like how tie-dyeing T-shirts can go terribly wrong. We get it. 😂)

She’s still close with her “Scrubs” pals.

Especially Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who played J.D. and Turk on the show. In fact, she joined Zach and Donald on their podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends in September 2020. The episode is bound to be hilarious, so you’ll probably want to check it out.

Though we’ll always love her for her past roles, we can’t wait to watch Sarah shine on Firefly Lane. Let us know your thoughts about the show in the comments!
