D. <strong>Joseph</strong> presented the Sixth Annual Dame Eugenia CharlesDistinguished Lecture on the topic: “Neo-liberalism, Primitive Accumulationand Generational Decline: The Crisis of Political Leadership in theCaribbean.”<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Joseph</strong>, a St. Lucian by birth, is a Lecturer inPolitical Science at The University of the WestIndies at Cave Hill, Barbados since 2003. He hasthe Ph.D. in Social and Political Sciences fromWolfson College, University of Cambridge, theM.Phil in Political Science from The University ofthe West Indies and the BA in History andPolitical Science, also from The University of theWest Indies.<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Joseph</strong> is a Political Scientist and can beconsidered one of the University of the West Indies’ quickly rising academics.He has written several articles in refereed journals, contributed to bookchapters as well as authored and co-authored books on the subjects ofcolonialism, decolonization, elections, and other relevant topics in politicalscience.<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Joseph</strong>, an educator at heart (having taught also at a secondary school inSt. Lucia) is a multifaceted or “hands-on” Caribbean man. Since 1994, he hasbeen a Newspaper, Radio and Television Commentator on Caribbean PoliticalIssues on St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Dominica, Barbados, Jamaica and otherCaribbean Media. Since 2010, he has been columnist in The Daily Nation(Tuesday), under the caption, “All Ah We Is One”.
