Smite Baron Samedi Guide: the God of Life and Death

Welcome to our Smite Baron Samedi Guide. It’s unusual for Haitian folklore to be depicted in games, and in that regard, Smite does Baron Samedi justice.

Smite’s Baron Samedi is proof of how much passion goes into the development of Smite. There really isn’t anything like it. I mean, what other game would take an interest in Haitian folklore?

Even among folk tales, Baron Samedi is unique. Usually, when Gods do something, there are good reasons for their actions. Baron Samedi on the other hand does things if he finds them convenient. This makes for an interesting situation where Baron Samedi isn’t entirely evil, but he isn’t entirely good as well, and that’s best reflected in his playstyle.

Before we continue, you might be interested in the Z League app; it’s the best place to find like-minded gamers to play the games that you enjoy.

Key Takeaways for Smite Baron Samedi Guide

  • Baron Samedi is one of the best Smite Gods in the game currently
  • The Baron is a pretty universal God as he’s good in multiple roles
  • Baron Samedi isn’t the easiest God to play as there are a lot of mechanics you have to take into consideration.

Baron Samedi Abilities

Smite Baron Samedi Guide Abilities

Let’s start with his passive, Hysteria. Hysteria is a unique debuff that is applied to every enemy that Baron Samedi attacks. Usually, he does this with his basic attacks, however, even his abilities apply a certain amount of Hysteria to enemies. Hysteria alters the effect of Baron Samedi’s abilities on his enemies, on top of that it also increases the amount of damage enemies take from Baron Samedi.

Vivid Gaze is his first ability. The Baron animates two skulls with his hands that shoot out beams of voodoo magic, these beams crossover wherever the Baron is aiming. This ability is basically a unique type of skill shot. If the enemy God has more than 30 stacks of Hysteria they also have their attack speed and powers reduced for a few seconds.

The Baron’s second ability is Consign Spirits. It’s practically an AoE damage ability, however, if the ability hits an enemy God then all nearby friendly Gods are healed as a result. If the target has more than 30 stacks of Hysteria, not only are your allies healed but they also get a buff to their movement speed.

Wrap it Up is another skill shot that the Baron has. Baron Samedi throws his snake in a line, any God hit by it receives a DoT as well as a ramp to root. If the enemy has more than 30 stacks of Hysteria this skill also jumps to nearby enemy Gods.

Finally, we come to Baron Samedi’s ultimate, Life of the Party. By activating his ultimate, Baron Samedi pulls out a coffin from the ground that sucks all enemies caught in front of it toward the coffin. If an enemy reaches the coffin they take extra damage based on their Maximum Health percentage and are stunned. As usual, if the target has more than 30 stacks of Hysteria then they get pulled in faster.

Ideal Baron Samedi Build

Baron Samedi Build

This build emphasizes Baron Samedi’s capabilities as a support. That being said, he isn’t that bad of a Mage either. He’s a bit of everything really, with the proper items of course.

Start off by getting a Benevolence and a Cloak. Since you’re the support, you’re relegated to warding duty, so get wards at the start as well. For relics you should get the Cloak of Meditation and Belt of Frenzy, there are no better support items than these two. Later, if you have the money, make sure to upgrade them into the Cloak of the Ascetic and the Belt of the Berserker. Before that, however, focus on upgrading your starters into a Heroism and a Prophetic Cloak. If money isn’t a problem, go for a Gauntlet of Thebes and start building the stacks.

After getting your core items, you should get a Lotus Sickle, a Stone of Binding, and a Spirit Robe. Baron Samedi suffers from the same problems that Bacchus suffers. We talked about him previously in our Smite Bacchus Guide. In short, as a support, farming isn’t one of your priorities. This means that you probably won’t be able to acquire your full build, so prioritize what you absolutely need.

Tips for Playing With Baron Samedi
