Areolar connective tissue (40x objective lens)


Whole mount of the murine intestinal mesentery. At higher magnification, large numbers of cell nuclei can be seen. The cytoplasm is generally not well stained except for cells containing cytoplasmic granules, such as the three mast cells seen just below and to the right of the center of the image. The fine, darkly stained lines are elastic fibers stained with thionin.
 
Stain = H&E and thionin.
