SUMMER LEARNING

Do you need to keep your Chromebook or iPad so you can do your summer learning?
You can sign it out virtually by clicking HERE

K-8 ON YOUR OWN
We've provided a number of resources to connect your child to activities and sites that will keep them learning and growing.  Learning throughout the summer is especially important this year, as it's been a long time since we've been able to support your students in an authentic teaching environment.  Please take advantage of these resources at your own pace.

ELEMENTARY ZOOM SUMMER
It was very difficult to unplug from our students last week so, we've decided to keep our Sigsbee families connected by continuing Zoom live lessons for seven weeks this summer!  This will give your children an opportunity to stay connected to their classmates and our teachers.  This program is totally optional but strongly recommended.  The schedule is as follows:

Mondays and Wednesdays Math 9:00-9:45 AM
Tuesdays and Thursday Language Arts 9:00-9:45 AM
Fridays:  Specials (Art, Music/Science/Guidance) 9:00-9:45 AM

Lessons will begin on June 8th.  The teachers who will be presenting the lessons will vary.  However, they will be teachers in your children's grade levels.  Students will be invited to cross grade level meetings (K-1, 2-3, 4-5).  Please join with the class you just finished.  Zoom links will be sent out weekly via Remind and in the Scoop.

CREDIT BALANCES
If you still have a credit balance on your students' accounts, please fill out this form to indicate if you would like a check sent to your home or if you would like to donate the balance to the school:

We are waiting until after all items are returned then we will process the refunds so parents can sign up now but balances may change. We expect to have checks prepared a week after our materials exchange is complete.

THE IGUANA LOUNGE HAS LANDED
Sigsbee Charter School has just been gifted the most beautiful super-sized adirondack chair by the Military Affairs Committee.  Crafted by Joe Caso.  Painted by Wendy Lefere, former SCS art teacher and former CO spouse, this awesome chair can be found on the turf grass behind the office.  Feel free to stop by and take your year-end pictures.  It's a beautiful work of art.

Thank you to Strunks Hardware and Manley DeBoer for donating the lumber.  Thank you to Mary Lou Carn for sanding the chair and Greg Sullivan for transport.

DECATHLETES:
 TEN YEARS AT SIGSBEE
Sigsbee ended its tenth year as a charter school much the way we started...unexpectedly, with the future unknown, and thriving.  We were not able to celebrate our accomplishments the way we planned; so, let's take a moment to acknowledge the commitment of the original staff members.  These folks took a chance on a school that was just an idea, at that time.  They are the foundation upon all else was built.

Ten Years at Sigsbee:
Stephanie Bartley, finance manager
Joe Giusti, middle school physical education teacher
Jessica Giusti, interventionist
Pat Gladding, human resources manager
Heather Hazzard, everybody's everything
Angela Hankins, literacy coach
Eli Jannes, principal
Sugar Kirk, art teacher
Heather-May Potter, middles school special education teacher
Paula Wilson, middle school English language arts teacher
Sigsbee Sushi gift set for our decathletes made by our own Mrs. Lefere

STAFF MEMBERS LEAVING
We also were not able to properly say goodbye to a number of staff members who are leaving.   The mobility of our military-connected community is also reflected in our staff and the transient nature of our area often leads to losses we wish we did not have to bear.  Fair winds and following seas to these Sigsbee staff members.  We hope you'll navigate your way back to us at some point:

Debbi Crandall, library/media specialist
Greg Fisher, fifth grade science
Heather Hazzard, everybody's everything
Sugar Kirk, art teacher
Casey Miles, 8th grade math
Alicia Palmer, 1st grade support teacher
Jaclyn Skafas, 4th grade science
Blair Skiba, 7th grade math

SAVE THE PAVEMENT
Please be careful to preserve our new asphalt located on our front circle.  It needs some time to cure.  Should you need to come to the school for any reason, please call first 305-294-1861 and park in the upper parking lot.
