Abstract Data were analyzed using linear fixed model with (SAS, 2004) to determine the main fixed effects. And animal model by using Multiple Traits Derivative Free Restricted Maximum Likelihood (MTDFREML) according to Boldman et al.,(1995) to estimate the genetic parameters to the different traits. and Matlab program (Matlab, 2002) were used to set up and construct the selection indices. Means of (MY), (SCC), (DMY) and ML in buffalo cows without mastitis and with mastitis incidence were 2100 kg, 261,200 cell/ml, 9.5 kg/day and 4.8 kg, and 1330 kg, 1,465,000 cells/ml, 6.2 kg/day and 311.2 kg, respectively. The estimates of heritability for MY, SCC, DMY, MAST, UDHS and ML in three models were 0.41, 0.28, 0.43, 0.30, 0.26 and 0.31, respectively in model1, 0.35, 0.22, 0.38, 0.24, 0.18 and 0.23, respectively in model 2 and 0.26 , 0.14, 0.30, 0.15, 0.09 and 0.14, respectively in model 3. Genetic correlation between different traits studied ranged from (0.76 and -0.63) in model 1. Genetic correlation between different traits in model 2 ranged from 0.86 to -0.53. The estimates of genetic correlations in model 3 between MY and DMY was positive and highest (0.86), while the correlation between MY each udder heath traits and ML were -0.18, -0.38, -0.42 and -0.12, respectively. The direct selection in model1 for each traits MY,SCC, DMY, MAST, UDHS and ML could be expected to increase of 313.04 kg, 75810 cell/ml, 1.51 kg, 0.09, 0.50 and 62.26 kg, respectively per generation. The direct selection in model 2 for each traits could be expected to increase of 267.23 kg, 59570 cell/ml, 1.33 kg, 0.07, 0.35 and 46.20 kg respectively. The direct selection for each traits could be expected to increase of 198.51 kg, 37910 cell/ml, 1.05 kg, 0.05, 0.17 and 28.12 kg, respectively. The highest correlation between two methods were more than 0.91. Thus, it was recommend to use the method 2 because its simplicity and ease of calculation if these selection is to the practiced at the end of the first lactation in Egyptian buffaloes. |
