This limpet has eleven distinct radial ribs and weak secondary ridges formed by white bumps. The pattern is distinct in juveniles, but is duller and more eroded in adults. Shells can be encrusted with algae or barnacles.


Common on open rock surfaces in mid to high intertidal of both sheltered and exposed coasts, very common amongst barnacles.


Grazes on algae on the rocks.


It can tolerate losing 60% of it’s body water and temperatures of 40 degrees celcius. This may be because they return to tightly fitting "home" sites.
