Found in Alajuela province of Costa Rica in wet montane forests at elevations around 900 to 1250 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with terete, erect ramicauls enveloped by a thin, tubular sheath below the middle and 2 shorter ones at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, linear-narrowly elliptical, emarginate and apiculate, narrowly cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, arising successively through a slender spathe from the apex of the ramicaul at the base of the leaf, loose, slender, strict, secund, up to 7 to 9.2" [to 17.5 to 23 cm] long including the 1.4 to 3.6" [3.5 to 9 cm] long peduncle, simultaenously few to at least 11 flowered inflorescence with shorter to longer than the pedicel floral bracts.

"D. lueriana can be distinguished from both Pleurothallis pachyglossa Lindl. 1840 and Pleurothallis ramonensis Schltr. 1923 by its large plants with long narrow linear leaves (vs. short and elliptic), the multiflowered inflorescence with several flowers open at once (vs. inflorescence that has one open flower at once), the flowers parallel to the rachis (vs. perpendicular), the curved ovary (vs. straight) and the emarginate petals (vs. obtuse or acute). Additionally, D. ramonensis and D. lueriana are only known fram Costa Rica, while D. pachyglossa is only known fram Mexico and Guatemala. Karremans 2012
