Ranelagh is a suburb full of great cafés, restaurants and bars within walking distance of the city centre. It's fairly upmarket and is surrounded by nice parks and residential areas. It is accesible by bus and the Luas tram and is a great spot to grab a bite to eat.
See & Do
Dartmouth Square is a beautiful park set amongst some picturesque Victorian red-brick houses just a few minutes walk from Ranelagh's main street. It was the subject of much controversy in the 00's due to confusion in ownership and development but is now open to the public and has free, open exercise classes on Saturday mornings.
Eat
If you're after a great piece of meat then The Butcher's Grill is one of the best places in Dublin to sate your desires. This is a converted butcher's that offers plenty of delicious permutations of beef to cater for every appetite. The interior is rustic and inviting and their wood smoke grill offers that little bit extra.
Party
Russell's of Ranelagh is where the locals get their pints before heading into the central nightclubs but is also the perfect spot to spend and evening in its entirety. There are great drinks deals, late opening hours and a DJ upstairs in case you feel the need to dance. If you're just pottering around Ranelagh on a sunny afternoon then there's no better place to enjoy a pint than on the roof terrace where you can watch the world go by.
Shop
The Ranelagh Village Market is a food and craft market operates from Thursday until Sunday in the main street across from the Luas Station. You can pick up everything from organic foods and beauty products to second-hand books as well as general bric-a-brac. It's a nice way to spend an afternoon before grabbing a pint.
