Driver survives single-car crash that obliterated car in Brighton

Brighton, N.Y. — A male driver survived a crash that destroyed his car Wednesday morning in front of McQuaid Jesuit High School.

The single-car crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Clinton Avenue. Firefighters said the car hit a tree and rolled over, trapping the driver.

Crews used extrication tools to rip the roof off the car and rescue the driver.

Police said the victim is in stable condition at Strong Memorial Hospital with "significant" injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
