This bird is either a small parakeet or a large parrot that belongs to the family of New World parrots, Arinae. The genus was previously contained in Aratinga but was split into four different genera. These genera are Aratinga, Pyrrhura, and two newer genera, Psittacara and Eupsittula. Many of these “true parrots” may not imitate the sounds of their families but they are known to mimic the calls of other members of their flock.
