Genus Grimpoteuthis
More Commonly referred to as Dumbo Octopuses. they get this name from their large fins along their mantle which may resemble Disney’s Dumbo’s ears. the Dumbo Octopuses are a genus of deep sea octopuses that live at extreme depths ranging from 13,000-23,000 feet this is the deepest of any known octopus. they can grow up to 6ft in length and weigh up to 13 pounds but the average size is a bit smaller. their diet consists of polychaetes (marine worms), isopods and crustaceans they also swallow their prey whole which is unique in this genus. they are dimorphic as males and females differ in size and sucker pattern.
