White beans, a legume that are similar in appearance to navy beans, but larger and creamy white in color. Use in a variety of dishes, such as soups, stews, salads, and dips. White beans are a good source of protein, fiber, and essential nutrients such as folate, iron, and potassium. They have a mild, nutty flavor and a creamy texture when cooked.

How to Grow:

1. Soil preparation:
White beans require well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5. Prepare the soil by removing weeds, rocks, and debris. Add compost or well-rotted manure to improve soil fertility and drainage.

2. Planting: White beans can be planted directly in the garden after the last frost date. Plant the seeds 1-2 inches deep and 3-4 inches apart in rows spaced 18-24 inches apart.

3. Watering: Water the plants regularly, especially during dry periods. Avoid overwatering as it can lead to root rot.

4. Fertilizing: White beans do not require a lot of fertilizer, but you can add a balanced fertilizer before planting or during the growing season if the plants show signs of nutrient deficiency.

5. Harvesting: White beans are ready to harvest when the pods are dry and brittle. Pick the pods before they split open to prevent the beans from scattering. Shell the beans and store them in a cool, dry place.
