Yvette Gentry is helping the youth of Louisville succeed through access, opportunity and advocacy. Gentry is Executive Director of the Rajon Rondo Foundation, a non-profit organization started by basketball star Rajon Rondo in 2011 under the fiscal sponsorship of Bluegrass Community Foundation to connect youth with resources and support. She also serves as Project Director for Metro United Way.

Gentry has spent nearly 20 years in executive leadership in law enforcement, government and philanthropy. She was previously Chief of Police for Louisville Metro Police Department, the first woman and first black woman in Louisville history to lead the force, after more than 20 years at LMPD working her way up from dispatcher to deputy chief.

She is a well-respected leader with strong ties to the Louisville community. Gentry leads the Rajon Rondo Foundation as it strives to mentor young people by exposing them to the world outside their immediate surroundings, emphasizing the need for personal accountability, encouraging them to give their best effort academically and helping develop healthy personal relationships.

Gentry is a graduate of the University of Louisville and served in the United States Army National Guard. She lives in Louisville.
