Peony 'Early Windflower' is a single, white peony with a center stuffed with orange-gold stamens. Lacy foliage and multiple blooms on each stem add to its grace and elegance. Its slightly nodding blossoms and long graceful leaves dance in the wind giving this peony its name and association with Anemone windflowers. It is a rare primary hybrid between Paeonia veitchii and the Himalayan Peony, Paeonia emodi. You have not likely seen this airy peony before, but it's one that should be more widely used in perennial gardens deep into the South where peonies are generally more difficult to establish. Enjoys full sun and sandy soils in the North, less of each in the South. Height to 35". LIMITED QUANTITIES. (Saunders, 1939). Heirloom.
