New Zealand handed an embarrassing nine-wicket defeat to England in the ICC World Cup 2023 opener. Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway rose to the occasion as they struck a 273-run stand. Rachin, who struck 123 (96) and picked up a solitary wicket in his maiden World Cup game, won the player of the match award for his performance.

After the game, Rachin went viral on the internet, moreover, his name’s origin was the talk of the town. Notably, his father was a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, which is why he named his son after the two legendary Indian cricketers.

In the latest events, Rahul Dravid, who addressed the press ahead of India’s opening game against Australia, spoke about Rachin and had a hilarious take on his innings. Dravid remarked that Rachin hit a lot of sixes in the match, which was contrary to his defensive style of play, which is why the young Kiwi was more of Sachin in his batting.

“He (Rachin Ravindra) hit five sixes yesterday. So I think there was more of Sachin’s ‘Chin’ than Rahul’s ‘Ra’ as I hardly got the ball off the square.”
