Amazon’s thrilling show Hanna came back for Season 2 this morning and fans are already clamoring for Hanna Season 3. Based on the Saoirse Ronan movie of the same name, Hanna follows a teenage super-assassin as she attempts to take down UTREX, the CIA operation that created her. In Season 2, Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) voluntarily joins “The Meadows,” an UTREX facility that trains teen girls to be stone cold killers. But the story doesn’t end neatly for Hanna in Season 2, leaving fans to wonder…will there be a Hanna Season 3 on Prime Video?
Hanna premiered on Prime Video in March 2019. The series pilot was directed by Sarah Adina Smith and used a female gaze to retell the story of a teen girl grappling with her adolescence while being on the run from the CIA. As played by Esme Creed-Miles, Hanna isn’t just trying to figure out who she is, but why she is the way she is. Why was she genetically engineered to be a killer and can she rebel against her own nature?
Hanna Season 2 picks up where Hanna Season 1 left off. After the death of Hanna’s “father,” Erik (Joel Kinnaman), Hanna and fellow UTREX subject Clara (Yasmin Monet Prince) are on the run in the woods. On their tail? Marissa Wiegler (Mireille Enos). However in Hanna Season 2, Hanna’s relationship with Marissa becomes more complicated as they both find themselves pitted against a new foe played by Dylan Mulroney.

WILL THERE BE A HANNA SEASON 3 ON AMAZON?
As of July 13, 2020, we can confirm that there will be a Hanna Season 3. Amazon Studios made the announcement, in a press release noting that Hanna Season 2 was a global hit in the over 200 countries where it premiered.
However, it definitely seemed like Hanna Season 3 was already in the cards based on how Hanna Season 2 ended. While Hanna was able to finally get friend and fellow UTREX subject Clara to safety, she did so by putting herself in the middle of a dangerous situation. Although it seems that Hanna has temporarily teamed up with Marissa to stop Carmichael (Dermot Mulroney), Hanna still has work to do. At least that’s what she tells Clara. UTREX is still a thing and that thing needs to be taken down.
WHEN WILL HANNA SEASON 3 BE ON AMAZON?
Even though we just learned about Hanna Season 3, we have some vague idea of when to expect the new season of Hanna to premiere.
Hanna Season 2 was announced in April 2019 and just debuted in early July 2020. Based on that timetable, the earliest we could expect Hanna Season 3 is September 2021. That’s provided no further hiccups happen in the production schedule.
