DescriptionBeaulieu Road station, New Forest - geograph.org.uk - 28345.jpg
English: Beaulieu Road station, New Forest. The station is on the Southampton-Brockenhurst mainline. The station was not originally intended to serve the village of Beaulieu (hardly convenient because it's over 3 miles away across heathland and woodland), but was a 'personal' station built for Lord Montagu as a concession for allowing the railway to be built over part of his Beaulieu Estate. A special signal would indicate to the train drivers that they should stop for the Lord and his guests. Nowadays anyone can use the station (provided they've bought a ticket).
