Now, he intends to "cross another boundary of autonomy".
His quest for autonomy leads to amputation
Whelan has shown a desire to persist in modifying his body, even to the radical extent of surgically removing a limb. He emphasizes that this decision stems from a deep-seated belief in bodily autonomy, which has thus far steered his body modification choices.
In making his case, the Brit draws parallels between body modification and sex reassignment. He posits that the longing to alter one's physical form - whether via tattoos, piercings, or even amputation - resembles the need for sex reassignment. Whelan proposes that both are valid expressions of physical autonomy.
Whelan's plan to amputate his leg
