General Description
These are the babies of the overshots and are referred to as Sucker Rod Overshots. The Series ranges in sizes from 1 9/16” O.D. to 2 27/32” O.D. It is very similar to the Series 150, with a few exceptions.
They are versatile, since they may be dresses with spiral parts to catch maximum and near maximum sizes, and dresses with Basket parts to catch sizes much below maximum catch size.
Use
The Series 10 Sucker Rod Overshot is used in tubing or tubing size bores to catch sucker rods, small tubing, non-hardened sucker rod coupling, small-lost tools and fishing necks.
Construction
The Series 10 Overshot consists of a Top Sub Bowl, Control Guide, and Grapple for catching at maximum size. When dressed to engage an undersize fish, it consists of Top Sub, Bowl, (plain) guide, Basket Grapple, and Basket Grapple Control.
Operation
There are no packoffs for the Series 10. Basket grapples are available and all controls are the same size. When running the basket grapple, you have to run a basket grapple guide. Spiral grapples are also available, but there is no spiral grapple control. You use a spiral grapple guide that serves as a control and guide. These overshots are small, weak, and have a very thing wall, and should always be run with caution.
