With the 2020 fall sports season canceled (and the winter season delayed) by the COVID-19 outbreak, we at Fordham have decided to dig back through our archives and provide our fans with content on some of the outstanding teams and student-athletes who have graced Rose Hill over the years.

December 1, 1953 – (Bronx, N.Y.) – The Fordham men's basketball squad opened the season tonight in grand fashion (or more appropriately century fashion) as the Rams set four scoring records in a 105-56 overwhelming of Adelphi University in the University Gym.

Ed Conlin led the way for Fordham, scoring a school record 42 points, surpassing Fred Christ's former mark of 34 set in 1952.

The 105 point output set the Fordham single game scoring record, besting the 92 points scored by the Rams last year against Syracuse.

Both Conlin's 42 points and the Rams' 105 points are also gym marks.

Head coach Johnny Bach emptied the Fordham bench early but the Rams continued to put the ball through the hoop. Late in the game, a Bob Miller layup brought the crowd to its feet as the basket propelled the Rams to the century mark.
