SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata stromatic, superficial, usually aggregated, irregular in shape, sometimes with a slightly constricted base, 50-80 µm diam. with smaller sterile or immature stromata also present, ± globose to somewhat flattened, black, composed of thick-walled dark brown globose cells 5-7 µm diam., somewhat roughened on the outer surface. Interascal tissue not seen. Asci 18-20 x 14-16 µm, globose to saccate, apparently sessile, very thick-walled when young but evanescent at maturity, 8-spored. Ascospores 7.5-9.5 (-10.5) x 4-6.5 (-7) µm, clavate-ellipsoidal, strongly constricted at the slightly submedian septum, pale brown when young with a distinct perispore which disappears with age, dark brown and very thick-walled when mature, when old with an irregular verrucose ornamentation and irregular fissures.
