Se presenta el inventario florístico de la Reserva Natural El Retiro, una de las áreas núcleo de la Reserva de la Biosfera Baconao. Se realizaron ocho expediciones durante el año 2016. Fueron inventariados 627 taxones de las cuales 371 constituyen nuevos registros para la reserva, se destacan Miconia brachycentra (Melastomataceae) y una especie aún sin identificar del género Lyonia (Ericaceae). Las especies amenazadas constituyen el 5 % de la flora local, se registran 11 En Peligro Crítico, 12 En Peligro y dos Vulnerables. Los tipos biológicos que predominan en esta localidad son los nanofanerófitos y micronanofanerófitos.
