Chronic a condition that develops slowly over time and becomes persistant and sometimes permanent.
Corrigent an agent that balances a harsh or strong action of another agent, a corrective.
Counter Irritantan agent that irritates local tissues to enhance blood flow to the area. Used to induce temporary hyperemia in chronic conditions in an attempt to releive pain, promote healing, reduce inflammation.
Dacryagogue An agents that promotes lacrimation, the flow of tears.
Demulcent a cooling, soothing, mucilagenous substance used internally or topically to emolliate abrated, inflammaed or irritated, mucosal tissues.
Depurant any agent aimed at purifying, a liver depurant, a renal depurant, a blood depurant etc. Depurants have a purifying effects by promoting the elimination of wastes from the body.
Diaphoretic an agent capable of inducing perspiration, and often a temporary fever.
Diuretic an agent that stimulates the production and flow of urine.

Emmenagogue an agent that promotes menstrual flow.

Febrifuge an agent used to bring down the temperature in cases of fever.

Galactophyge an agent that reduces or arrests lactation.

Oxytocic an agent that promotes uterine contractions. Hastens childbirth
