I absolutely love Audley and it’s one of the best places to spend the day in the Royal National Park.
There are amazing picnic areas and you can enjoy paddling or kayaking up and down the river. There’s a local cafe as well as the visitor centre.
However, Audley is notoriously hard to park at especially on summer weekends and public holidays. However, there are quite a lot of parking stations not far from Audley Village and if you have a little bit of patience and some luck you should be able to find a parking spot just fine.
I don’t know about you but for me sometimes I stress out about parking when I am going somewhere new so this articles contains all the parking information I wish I had before I went to Audley.
Links to the exact locations of each of the car parks on both Google and Apple Maps are below. I have ordered them from the locations closest to Audley Village and then slowly getting a further and further walk away.
The furthest spots to park is still only 800-900 metres walk from Audley Village and should only take 10-15 minutes to walk to Audley Village from your car.
Each of the spots have picnic areas associated with the car parks so you may just want to hang out right near your car and you’ll still have a fantastic day.
Paying For Parking
You do have to pay for parking at all of these car parks near Audley.
They are all inside the Royal National Park and thus you have to pay the vehicle fees for the park. Click here to learn all about the Royal National Park Fees and how you can get cheap annual passes.
There are payment stations all over each of these car parks if you just want to get a day pass.
Yes, Rangers regularly patrol this area handing out fines to people who haven’t paid for parking.
Usually the fines are just the cost of a ticket but I spoke to a ranger and they said the fines could be up to $150 at their discretion.
So if you do any super dodgy parking in non-allocated spots then be careful. You may walk away with a fine.
The Closest Car Parks
There are two car parks immediately next to Audley Village and if it’s a quiet day you should be able to find a spot in one of these locations which will save you walking very far.
Audley Village Main Car Park

The main car park for Audley Village is off Sir Bertram Stevens Drive just after you cross over Audley Weir and is the best location to park for the Audley Village cafe and picnic area (known as Ironbark Picnic Area but most people call it Audley).
There are quite a lot of car spots in this little car park and if you’re coming on a less crowded day chances are high that you’ll be able to get a spot.
It fills up pretty quickly on warmer weekends and public holidays though and you may need to check out some of the other parking locations if this one is full.
Audley Village Small Car Park (Disabled Parking)

Just after the main carpark you can turn off onto Lady Carrington Drive and you’ll drive past the cafe, visitor centre and large undercover area on your right hand side.
Just after the large undercover area there is a small car park with only around 6-7 regular spaces for cars.
This section also has 4 disabled parking spots right near the undercover section so if you are a disabled person or have disabled passengers this is a good location to find a parking spot.

North of The River
There are a few different parking spots on the north side of the Port Hacking River and are just a short walk over the Audley Weir to get to the Audley Village Cafe and picnic area.
Allambie Flat Picnic Area

Allambie Flat Picnic Area has a lot of parking and is probably the largest car park in the area so well worth a try if the Audley Village car parks are full.
This is also near the Audley Boat Shed where you can hire rowboats, kayaks, canoes and paddleboats. So if you feel like going up or down river this is a great spot to park your car.

There are also bathrooms at Allambie Flat Picnic Area as well as picnic tables.
Bus Stop Flat Picnic Area

As you head down into Audley and before your cross the Weir turn left into Riverside Drive and immediately you will see some parking spots know as Bus Stop Flat Picnic Area.
It’s not a huge car park but there are spots for around 20 of so cars and it’s. aclose walk over Audley Weir to get to Audley Village.
Reids Flat

If Bus Stop Flat Car Park is full then continue down Riverside Drive and at the end you’ll get to Reids Flat Picnic Area
There are quite a lot of parking spots here and you can swim in the river here making it a popular spot among families.
There are rest rooms near the car park and picnic tables. There is also a nice walking trail off the east end of the park if you’re feeling up for a bit of adventure.
South Of The River
The following car parks are all south of Audley Village and are often less popular than the northern areas so you may be more likely to find parking here.
Currawong Flat

Head down Lady Carrington Drive (passing the cafe on your right) and you’ll see a little wooden one way bridge.
Drive over this bridge (being careful of cars coming the other way) and you’ll get to Currawong Flat where there is a lot of parking.
When I most recently went to Audley this was where I was easily able to find parking.
From this location you can walk back over the bridge to get to the cafe and Audley Village area or you can hang out here.
There are bathrooms, picnic tables and there is also the Robertson’s Roundabout Track which is a 2km steep round track that leads to some incredible views of the river.
Willow Tree Flat

To get to Willow Tree Flat go down Lady Carington Drive but DON’T cross over the wooden bridge.
Continue straight and you’ll come to Willow Tree Flat Car Park.
It’s a dirt car park without defined spaces and it was very quiet when I visited – but it was the end of the day.
There are lots of places to park here.
Fig Tree Flat (Lady Carington Drive)

Lastly you have Fig Tree Flat which is right at the end of the drivable road until Lady Carington Drive turns into walking only.
People doing the Lady Carington Drive Track will park here and you’ll likely see some mountain bike riders as well but you can park here and it’s only about 800 metres walk back to Audley.
The car park is large and there are lots of spaces for cars to spread out.
