To mislead somebody is to deceive them or provide them with false information that leads them to a false conclusion. To misunderstand is simply to have understood something incorrectly, in a different way than it should have been understood.
For example:
“She really mislead me with those directions, they were completely wrong!”
Vs.
“I completely misunderstood the directions she gave me, so I made a wrong turn.”
In the first example, the person who was giving directions gave the person who was asking for directions the wrong information. But in the second example, the person giving directions gave correct directions, but the person who was asking for directions misunderstood them.
Hope this helps!

"misleading" means someone or something implied an incorrect or fake version of something. They made people believe something is something that it is not. Like if I wear a lot of makeup and I make my eyes look big, then I take it off and my eyes are small. That is misleading.
"Misunderstand" is when someone does not understand something properly. Also, it's when someone makes a mistake, and they are mislead by something.
So, misleading information can cause someone to misunderstand.
