You have 2 options: 1) Ich schreibe dir einen Brief 2) Ich schreibe an dich einen Brief. 1) I am writing you a letter (dir=dativ + einen Brief= akkusativ) / 2) I am writing to you a letter (an= to + dich= akkusativ + einen Brief = akkusativ). 2. one is grammatically more correct according to my research.
