Gordon Hayward a buyout candidate?

- by

That could be a lot to ask, meaning the Hornets probably wouldn’t get a whole lot in return for Hayward’s services and what will essentially be a two-plus month rental. With financial flexibility a priority, the Hornets likely wouldn’t want to take on too much salary in return anyway if they traded Hayward. But he doesn’t fit the Hornets’ roster retooling timeline and a split is almost certainly on the horizon. Two league sources suggested Hayward could be a buyout candidate, a move that’d allow the 33-year-old to sign with a preferred destination.

I spent some time looking at Kyle Lowry trades and ran into one major issue. In every potential trade I found, Gordon Hayward made more sense for the other team in place of Lowry
Charlotte now have duplicative assets in x2 $30+ expirings, I would be surprised if both were moved – 6:00 AM

The concept of a Charlotte teardown possibly leading to a Gordon Hayward buyout should be a bigger talking point right now. He’d probably be the greatest in-season buyout player of all time if that came to pass.
Been saying all year what a wonderful fit he’d be in Minnesota. – 2:37 PM

Inevitable that #Hornets will shop Hayward ($31.5M), Lowry ($29.7M) and Bridges ($7.9M) with buyouts possible for any of them if they don’t get dealt. Nick Richards ($5M) could return some value too. – 12:13 PM

Zach Lowe of ESPN contends that the Oklahoma City Thunder, the current one-seed in the Western Conference following a controversy-riddled victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night, should trade for a certain Hornets player. But instead of Bridges, Richards, or even Gordon Hayward, Lowe suggested that the Thunder inquire about versatile forward PJ Washington’s availability. “I’ve mentioned him specifically for Oklahoma City before,” Lowe said on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Lowe Post. “Everybody wants Oklahoma City to go get a Center, Chet’s skinny he gets pushed around every now and then. [But] it’s not that easy to find a great center who fits exactly what they need. If I can’t find that I want a four, I want someone who pencils in right as a four.” -via Clutch Points / January 24, 2024
The NBA is the latest property to partner with Fastbreak.ai, joining the likes of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Major League Pickleball in using the company’s scheduling technology. Last year, Fastbreak.ai closed a US$5.2 million seed financing round led by Greycroft. Other investors include Charlotte Hornets forward Gordon Hayward and retired National Football League (NFL) player Greg Olsen. -via Sportspromedia.com / January 18, 2024
