Description
Erect herbs to 40 cm tall; young stem and leaves reddish. Leaves 0.6-1.2 x 0.4-0.6 cm, oblong, base oblique, margin ciliate, apex acute to apiculate, glabrous; stipules c. 1mm long, linear to subulate. Male flowers in axillary clusters; tepals 6, 1-seriate, orbicular; stamens 5, filaments united; disc 6-lobed. Female flowers in lower axils, solitary; tepals 6, obovate-oblong; ovary warted without; stigma 3, each 2-fid; disc annular. Capsule 2-3 mm across, globose, 3-lobed, sessile, verrucose. Seeds 6, trigonous, transversely ridged.

Morphology
Herbs, glabrous throughout, upto 11 cm high, covering area ca.12 x 13 cm; stem errect, hard, ca. 0.15 cm diameter; leaves pinnately compound, odd-pinnate; rachis with leafy winged; leaflet alternate, entire, obovate, base slightly oblique, apex rounded, mucronate, deep green, sometimes reddish; petiolule very short, ca. 0.05 cm long; lamina 0.8-1.1 x 0.4-0.6 cm, adaxially deep green, with indistinct vein, abaxially light green, with distinct lateral veins ca. 3 pairs; male flowerr ca. 0.2 x 0.2 cm, actinomorphic, singly borned, axillary, developed on upper part of rachis, calyx 6, free, white, membranous; stamens 3, closely associated, yellow; staminodes 6, arising between the base of two sepals; female flower singly, axillary, sub-sessile, ca. 0.15 x 0.15 cm, developed on lower part of rachis; sepals 6, green, persistant, free; style 3, free, green; fruits sub-sessile, 0.15 x 0.3 cm, green, rough, tuberculate, base with 6 persistant sepals; seeds 6, 3 sided, ca. 0.1 cm, unequal, brown-red, with 7-11 sharp transverse ribs on back.
