Morphology
Shrub about 3 m tall. Bark purplish-grey. Young branches hispid-pilose, glabrescent, glabrous or hairy. Leaves variable elliptic-oblong, subobtuse, ovate, 3-4 x 0.5-1 cm across, glabrous or hairy on both the sides, base rounded, margin hirsute, apex slightly obtuse or acute, petiole about 0.5-1.5 cm long, bracts obovate-elliptic boat shaped, hardly connate, 1-1.5 cm long, hispid, ciliate or glabrescent. Flowers in peduncled pairs, Calyx tube, hairy, hirsute rarely glabrous, 5 undulate limbs. Corolla yellowish white, Corolla tube 0.5-0.8 cm long, hairy, gibbous at the base, lobes 0.8-0.6 cm ellipsoid, confluent or entirely separate. Stamens about the same length as the corolla, hairy. Style slightly longer than the stamens. Fruit ovoid, yellowish and red when ripe. Seeds compressed, brown.
