YLAI tiene como propósito, empoderar a negocios y emprendedores sociales de Latinoamerica y el Caribe que transforman sus sociedades y contribuyen ampliamente al desarrollo de la Economía, Prosperidad, Seguridad, Derechos Humanos y Buen Gobierno del hemisferio».

En mayo de 2016 fui elegido como un Joven Líder de América, teniendo la oportunidad de participar en la 1ra Cohorte del programa «Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative», una actividad profesional de 6 semanas para emprendedores, financiada por la Oficina de Educación y Cultura del Departamento de Estado. YLAI trae 250 líderes prometedores de América Latina y el Caribe cada año a los Estados Unidos para expandir nuestro liderazgo y habilidades empresariales y tener la oportunidad de aprender e intercambiar con empresas estadounidenses. Este programa está abierto a jóvenes emprendedores de 25 a 35 años de edad, seleccionados para participar mediante un proceso de solicitud competitivo. Más de 750 alumnos YLAI mantenemos una red coherente en toda América Latina y el Caribe para respaldar los esfuerzos de todos, mejorar nuestras propias empresas y compartir las mejores prácticas. La INICIATIVA «YLAI» DE LOS JÓVENES LÍDERES DE LAS AMÉRICAS capacita a Empresarios Jóvenes para fortalecer nuestra capacidad de lanzar y promover ideas empresariales y contribuir de manera efectiva al desarrollo social y económico de nuestras comunidades.
Desde el lanzamiento de la iniciativa por el Presidente Obama en 2016, más de 750 becarios profesionales de YLAI de América Latina y el Caribe hemos expandido nuestro liderazgo y experiencia empresarial, a través del YLAI Entrepreneurship Institute y las becas individualizadas, aceleramos el éxito de nuestras empresas comerciales y sociales y desarrollamos planes de acción específicos para llevarlos a cabo.
El 5 de octubre, la jornada inicio a las 8:30 am con los comentarios de bienvenida dadas por Chris Miner, Subsecretaria adjunta de la Oficina de Asuntos Educativos y Culturales del Departamento de Estado de los EE. UU. Sarah Heck, Directora de Compromiso Global, Consejo de Seguridad Nacional, Casa Blanca. Y el Embajador Stuart Holliday, Presidente y CEO, Meridian International Center.
Después de los comentarios disertamos sobre la visión de liderazgo con Nina Vaca, Embajadora Presidencial para el Emprendimiento Global, las expectativas del programa y las maneras de fortalecer nuestras comunidades. El siguiente día, Todd Meier, alcalde de Addison, nos dio una calurosa bienvenida a su ciudad y al estado de Texas. seguidamente, Silvio González, Oficial de Política y Coordinación, Oficina de Diplomacia Pública y Asuntos Públicos del Departamento de Estado, hizo un «LLAMADO A LA ACCIÓN» a los jóvenes de las Américas y Dale Petroskey, CEO de la Cámara de Comercio Regional de Dallas nos enseño las cualidades del liderazgo para construir y mantener una empresa y como lanzar una empresa en Dallas. Durante el almuerzo, escuchamos la historia y los consejos de Jeffery McElfresh, Presidente de DIRECTV Latinoamerica AT&T, luego aprendimos sobre el Lenguaje y los Aspectos culturales de la Comunicación en los Negocios Internacionales y por la noche tuvimos una recepción en el Nasher Sculpture Center por parte del Honorable Mike Rawlings, Alcalde de Dallas y ex CEO de Pizza Hut. El viernes 7 de octubre tuvimos un foro de Organizaciones de Emprendedores, en el que nos enfocamos en examinar nuestros desafíos, metas personales y profesionales, intercambiando nuestras experiencias, apoyando las decisiones de los demás y creciendo como comunidad. En la noche vivimos una experiencia auténticamente texana en el Rodeo y Stock Show en Forth Worth, TX.
Durante las 4 semanas siguientes los 250 participantes fuimos divididos en grupos y enviados a diferentes ciudades de los Estados Unidos, yo, junto a otros 11 fuimos enviados a la ciudad de South Bend Indiana, en donde por las mañanas asistíamos a empresas relacionadas al sector en el que estábamos emprendiendo y por las tardes desarrollábamos un curriculum educativo sobre liderazgo, política internacional y emprendimiento en la Escuela Keough de Asuntos Globales de la Universidad de Notre Dame.
Luego de todo este tiempo, nos encontramos de Nuevo por una semana en Washington, D.C. para el Closing Forum, conferencias, eventos de networking y recepciones con los mas importantes oficiales del Gobierno Federal, del Departamento de Estado y del cuerpo diplomático acreditado, así como con líderes globales públicos, privados y sin ánimo de lucro entre los cuales estaba Sir. Richard Branson. Presenciamos In Situ las elecciones presidenciales en las que resulto ganador Donald Trump.
Mi participación en este programa y mi estadía en la ciudad de South Bend podría calificarse como una de las mejores y más enriquecedoras experiencias de mi vida hasta ahora, ha sido un descubrimiento y un aprendizaje sin fin que ha desarrollado mi personalidad de muchas maneras.
Cuando me di cuenta del lugar al que me habían asignado, no pude negar mi sorpresa y mis dudas sobre lo desconocido, pero una vez allí, superó con creces todas mis expectativas, convertirme en parte de una universidad de la talla de Notre Dame a través de su programa de Desarrollo Global, nutrirme de su mundo de infinita fe y conocimiento fue algo que viví con mucha intensidad. trabajar con empresas con sede en South Bend, conociendo su organización y funcionamiento, la forma en que operan y logran consolidarse, fueron herramientas que sin duda determinaron el progreso de mis iniciativas como Joven lider.
Me divertí mucho, conocí aun mas la cultura y el estilo de vida estadounidense, he formado un nuevo grupo internacional de amigos con personas increíbles comprometidas a dar todo por su bien, el bien de sus países y de América Latina para consolidar un hemisferio de paz y progreso.
In may of 2016 I was chosen as Young Leader of the America, having te opportunity to course the 1ts cohort of the The YLAI Professional Fellows program, a 6-week activity for entrepreneurs, funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. YLAI brings 250 promising leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean each year to the United States to expand our leadership and entrepreneurial skills and network through skills-building workshops and opportunities to learn from and exchange with U.S. counterparts. This program is open to young entrepreneurs 25-35 years of age, selected for participation via a competitive application process. More than 750 alumni of past YLAI Professional Fellows Programs maintain a cohesive network across Latin America and the Caribbean to support each other’s efforts to improve our own ventures, share best practices, and collaborate to reduce the opportunity gap and contribute to economic prosperity in our communities.
the YOUNG LEADERS of the AMERICAS INITIATIVE «YLAI» empowers entrepreneurs to strengthen our capacity to launch and advance our entrepreneurial ideas and effectively contribute to social and economic development in our communities. Since the initiative’s launch by President Obama in 2016, more than 750 YLAI Professional Fellows from Latin America and the Caribbean have expanded our leadership and entrepreneurial experience through fellowships at businesses and organizations across the United States. Through the YLAI Entrepreneurship Institute and the individualized Fellowships, we, the YLAI Fellows have accelerated our commercial and social ventures, succed and developed specific action plans to carry out.
On October 5, the day began at 8:30 am with the welcome comments given by Chris Miner, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State. UU. Sarah Heck, Director of Global Commitment, National Security Council, White House. And Ambassador Stuart Holliday, President and CEO, Meridian International Center.
After the comments we talked about the vision of leadership with Nina Vaca, Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship, the expectations of the program and the ways to strengthen our communities. Next day, Todd Meier, mayor of Addison, warmly welcomed us to his city and to the state of Texas. Silvio González, Policy and Coordination Officer, Office of Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs of the State Department, made a «CALL TO ACTION» to the youth of the Americas and Dale Petroskey, CEO of the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce He taught us the qualities of leadership to build and maintain a company and how to launch a company in Dallas. During lunch, we listen to the history and advice of Jeffery McElfresh, President of DIRECTV Latin America AT&T, then we learned about the Language and Cultural Aspects of Communication in International Businesses and at night we had a reception at the Nasher Sculpture Center by from the Honorable Mike Rawlings, Mayor of Dallas and former CEO of Pizza Hut. On Friday, October 7, we had a Forum of Entrepreneurs’ Organizations, in which we focused on examining our challenges, personal and professional goals, exchanging our experiences, supporting the decisions of others and growing as a community. In the evening we live an authentic Texan experience at the Rodeo and Stock Show in Forth Worth, TX.
During the following 4 weeks the 250 participants were divided into groups and sent to different cities of the United States, I, along with another 11 were sent to the city of South Bend Indiana, where in the morning we attended companies related to the sector in which we were undertaking and in the afternoon we developed an educational curriculum on leadership, international politics and entrepreneurship at the Keough School of Global Affairs of the University of Notre Dame.
After all this time, we met again for a week in Washington, D.C. for the Closing Forum; conferences, networking events and receptions with the most important officials of the Federal Government, the Department of State and the accredited Diplomatic Corps, as well as with global public, private and non-profit leaders among whom was Sir. Richard Branson. We witnessed In Situ the presidential elections in which Donald Trump was elected.
My participation in this program and my stay in the city of South Bend could be described as one of the best and most enriching experiences of my life so far, it has been an endless discovery and learning that has developed my personality in many ways.
When I realized the place to which I had been assigned, I could not deny my surprise and my doubts about the unknown, but once there, it far exceeded all my expectations, becoming part of a university like Notre Dame through its Global Development program, nourishing myself with its world of infinite faith and knowledge was something I lived with great intensity. Working with companies based in South Bend, knowing their organization and operation, the way they operate and consolidate, were tools that undoubtedly determined the progress of my initiatives as a Young Leader.
I had a lot of fun, I got to know American culture and lifestyle even more, I have formed a new international group of friends with incredible people committed to give everything for their good, the good of their countries and Latin America to consolidate a hemisphere of peace and progress.
