Within minutes’ walk from your tent, you can hire canoes and get out on the water – take a beautiful countryside walk or test your balance on the low ropes course. Have a picnic in the grass, throw a Frisbee, take a nap or have a pub lunch. Take a trip around the great broad on the solar boat ‘Ra' or get peddling and follow the miles of cycle routes.
National Cycle route one runs right through the park, so why not hire a bike (from the train station - 2.5 miles, or form our friend Peter at Broadland Cycle Hire - delivered to the site for all hires of 2 or more days). You can even go tubing or snowboarding/skiing at the Norfolk Snowsports centre, just down the road from the site.
Why not have a drive out or catch a train to the stunning Norfolk coastline, take a dip in the sea, lounge on the beach or see the Seals at Horsey, Sea Palling and Waxham. Hire a boat at Wroxham and take to the broads the traditional way
Weatherproof Camping!
Here at Whitlingham rain doesn’t have to stop play. If the clouds roll over and things are getting a bit soggy why not hop aboard the city boats river bus and cruise into Norwich City Centre. Norwich is said to have a church for every week and a pub for everyday of the years so why not explore them!
Shop the quirky lanes or the famous covered market, catch a movie, shop ‘till you drop or join in the café culture – you could even watch the ‘Canaries’ – Norwich city Football Club play a match at their home ground Carrow Road – just 2.5 miles from site.
Whitlingham Broad Campsite is located at the heart of Whitlingham Country Park, opposite the Visitor centre just a few hundred metres down a quiet lane from the Snow Sports Club. Its easy to find us!
By Train - It's takes roughly 40 minutes to walk from the train station to the campsite or, alternatively, grab a bus from the station (though there's still a little walk involved - check out the traveline website for a handy journey planner) or a taxi should be about £7.00.
By Car - From A47 (Norwich Southern Bypass) exit signposted Norwich, Lowestoft, Trowse A146. At traffic lights at bottom of slip road turn left and at the end of dual carriageway get in the right hand lane. From here on in follow brown signs to Ski Club and Country Park, this will mean a right turn at the roundabout, over the rail bridge and a left into Whitlingham Lane (just after the Trowse village sign). Follow Whitlingham Lane down past the Snowsports Club and into the Country Park.
The campsite is accessed through the wooden gates opposite the Flint Barn visitor centre. Just park up on the gravel area and pop into reception to register.
If using Sat Nav, the postcode for the Country Park is NR14 8TR, this will deliver you to the Flint Barn visitor centre, directly opposite the campsite. When putting this into your sat-nav please make sure it sends you to Whitlingham Lane, Trowse, not Whitlingham Lane, Thorpe. Thorpe is on the wrong side of the river and there is no road bridge!
By Bike - The campsite lies on National Cycle Route 1 and is very bike friendly! We have a secure cycle store for your bikes and know loads of lovely cycle routes ranging from gentle pedals around the park to 100 mile monsters taking in the finest bits of Norfolk. For more info please just drop us a line.
On Foot - We are on the long distance Wherrymans Way footpath and are situated about 35 minutes stroll from Norwich Train Station. Why not grab a train then get a bus, bike or piggyback to us & leave the car at home!
By River - Our campsite is just a few hundred metres from the River Yare and easily accessible by river. There are 24 hour moorings in the park.
