The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) came into existence in the year 1967. India is not a part of ASEAN. Later, other countries joined this multilateral organization.

On 08 August 1967, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand formed ASEAN. They signed the Bangkok Declaration The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is a regional organization of 10 Southeast Asian and Pacific countries.
