Colours

              

Distinguishing features

Bright orange, solid, finger-like colonies up to at least 5 cm high protruding from hard substrate. Polyps are retracted during the day.

Octocoral expert Dr Phil Alderslade advises that there is at least one undescribed species in the area that is indistinguishable from P. aldersladei unless scerites are examined (iNaturalist, Dec 2019).
