Abstract
The genus Eugerdella Kussakin, 1965 (Desmosomatidae Sars, 1897) occurs worldwide with 14 described species. Samples of the DIVA-2 (Latitudinal Gradients of deep-sea Biodiversity in the Atlantic Ocean) expedition contained 87 specimens belonging to 10 different species of the genus Eugerdella. One species, Eugerdella huberti sp. nov., is described in this study. The morphological description is combined with the genetic characterisation of E. huberti sp. nov.. Also, a key to all known Eugerdella species is presented.

Acknowledgements
We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Angelika Brandt for motivating us to do this species description. Without encouraging Sarah Schnurr during her taxonomy lessons at the University of Hamburg in January 2010, this species would be still waiting on the shelf for description without a name, like so many deep-sea isopod species presently do. Also, we would like to thank the crew and participants of the DIVA-2 expedition and all pickers and sorters. Moreover, we would like to thank David Barnes for proofreading the manuscript and native speaker corrections. The manuscript was improved by several discussions with the scientists of the DZMB in Hamburg and the comments of Nils Brenke and one anonymous referee.
