Abstract
The studies on the Pycnogonida, commonly known as sea-spider, in Indian waters are not adequate. During the present study, a species of sea-spider Pallenopsis hoeki (Miers in Pycnogonida. Report on the Zoological Collections Made in the Indo Pacific Ocean During the Voyage of H M S ‘Alert’ 1881/1882 (London) pp 323–326, 1884) is reported in Indian waters from the Lakshadweep archipelago as a new record. This study also suggests that this is also the first documentation of any sea-spider species from Lakshadweep. A detailed checklist of Indian Pycnogonida is represented here based on the published literature.
