Abstract

New findings were reported of nine fish species from the Congridae, Gonorhynchidae, Scorpaenidae, Serranidae, Nemipteridae, and Tetraodontidae families, of which seven species were first identified for the fauna of the country, while two species (Chaunax breviradius and Torquigener gloerfelti) were previously known only by type series individuals. The morphological variability of the species under consideration was clarified; for T. gloerfelti, the ontogenetic variability of features was first described.

Notes

  1. Since some of the fish were heavily dented, the measurements were performed for the seven best preserved specimens.

  2. The first are the counted and plastic characters of the adult fish with SL of 121 mm, followed by the different characters of juveniles with SL of 46–70 mm in parentheses.

  3. Papillas of the dorsal and ventral surface look flat only in a calm state; when the fish is inflated (there are no such individuals of T. gloerfelti in the studied material), they probably acquire a wart-like shape, as in other representatives of the genus (Fig. 7).
