Authorities are investigating a bizarre shooting that damaged a nursery room in Warwick Township.

According to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department (NLCRPD), officers received a report of shots fired into a home's nursery on the 100 block of Guilder Place.

The alleged shooting happened at around 11:13 a.m. on Feb. 17 after a neighbor heard a loud noise similar to a gunshot.

When the person inside the home checked the child's nursery, they discovered debris and dust from a hole in the room's drywall.

Police say a small child was in a crib inside the nursery but was not injured in the shooting.

Damage to the room was later identified to be caused by a projectile that was shot into the building, according to officials.

The NLCRPD says that while doing forensic processing of the scene, they interviewed a witness, a possible suspect, and another individual who was accused of shooting a squirrel near the area.

The individual admitted to police that they had shot and killed a squirrel around the same time of the shooting.

Later, patrolmen say they discovered a dead squirrel underneath a woodpile near the building that was shot at.

At this time, the investigation is still ongoing and charges towards the shooter are pending.

Officials say the NLCRPD will release more information on the suspect's identity once charges are officially filed.
