Beéle and Farruko made a splash last July with a collaboration that transported us to the paradisiacal beaches and intense parties of Santorini. The hit accumulated over 15 million streams and became a sensation on TikTok with more than 3 million creations. It’s a catchy and sexy song where the reggaetón stars sing about seduction and falling in love.

It’s no surprise that the impact of this hit, combined with the stellar careers of both artists—established icons of the new generation of reggaetón artists with billions of streams on platforms—led global star Jason Derulo to join the highly anticipated song.

«Santorini Remix,» produced by renowned producers Daramola, JonTheProducer, and Richi López, combines Beéle’s flow, Farruko’s hard-hitting rhymes, and Derulo’s R&B to complete a love song set in an idyllic place. In the music video, we can see the artists transformed into avatars sailing the seas of the Greek island until the sun sets.

Furthermore, this song marks a big step in Beéle’s career as he projects his trajectory into the U.S. market after collaborating for the first time with an Anglo artist of this caliber.

The Rise of Latin Music in the United States

The highly anticipated release of «Santorini – Remix» is another example of how Latin music ais at their peak, conquering the charts and making their respective genres the most listened to in the world. In recent years, Spanish-language music in the United States and other Latin markets has continued to thrive.

Between 2020 and 2022, Latin music consumption grew by 55.29%, according to Luminate, far surpassing the general industry’s 21.61% and the four largest genres in the U.S; R&B/hip-hop (12.17%), rock (22.28%), pop (20.64%), and country (19.22%). Furthermore, Colombia, the home country of Beéle, has proven to be one of the most renowned talent hubs following the announcement of the Latin Grammy nominees.

The global success of Spanish-language music has given us iconic hits like this, following in the footsteps of other stellar collaborations such as the «KPOP» by Bad Bunny, Travis Scott, and The Weeknd, the reinterpretation of «Hung Up» with Tokischa and Madonna, «Mi Gente» by J Balvin featuring Beyoncé, and «Tusa» by Karol G and Nicki Minaj, among many other examples.

So, which other Latin and Anglo music collaborations would you like to see soon?
