Found this place on Yelp, and so glad I did! My last day in LA, I was looking for a nearby coffee shop with nice outdoor seating, and this place checked all the boxes.
This was definitely the best cafe I've visited while in LA, and up there on my list of best coffee spots in general. Everything was all around great.
Trendy neighborhood, lots of murals and street art. The decor inside the shop was very aesthetic. Often, you see cafes that have a curated, cute presence, and then the reality is less cool than it looks online. Not the case! This shop is even more gorgeous than it is online!
The courtyard is the obvious draw. They have a large gated outdoor space out back in addition to a few tables out front on the sidewalk. It's an obvious plus to have a closed off courtyard, in case you want to relax without facing traffic or passersby. The courtyard is a little oasis! Sunshine streaming through but plenty of shade, lush leafy green plants all around, an airstream office at the back, plenty of seating. And, a cafe cat! He was lounging on a couch, sleeping and stretching in the sunshine, totally unbothered when guests sat next to him and happy to accept an occasional head scratch.
I came mid to late afternoon on a weekday (2-4PM) and it was easy for me to find space both inside and outside. I opted to sit outside, and nabbed a table in the shade next to an outlet.
I went for the chipotle mocha, which was like a Mexican hot chocolate but with coffee. It was immaculately made and just the exact perfect amount of smoky spicy. Coffee was roasted wonderfully and well-brewed.
This was such a relaxing spot and a great place to work. I'm so happy I found this spot, and would surely visit again and work here next time I'm in LA. Highly recommend giving this spot a visit!Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2024
My 73 year old Asian mother walked in to order 2 iced lattes with whole milk and the Caucasian man that was working the counter was rude and impatient with her. He started making the lattes hot and my mother quickly reminded him she wanted iced and with whole milk. There were times in the past where I went with her and when I said whole the barrista would accidentally give me
Oat. He immediately gave her attitude and made her feel uncomfortable as if it completely inconvenienced him.
If there was a language barrier, he should have been even nicer and taken the time to ask again what she wanted. I tried calling the store but no one picks up the phone. Why can't people just be nice to others?
The manager needs to give the employees a lesson on customer service and acceptance of others.

Alana's is a cute little coffeeshop and the ideal spot to post up for a couple hrs to study/work or catch up with friends.
The back patio is super inviting so don't be surprised if it reels you in to staying longer than intended. There are plants scattered throughout, a vintage airstream, and different types of seating with convenient outlets for those with technology.
I enjoyed a matcha latte with almond milk and honey drizzle ($7) on the back patio while working on Friday morning around 11am. It was sunny, breezy, and calm - a pleasant morning indeed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 2024Updated review2 check-ins
Pro: coffee roasted in house, good single origin variety, fresh patio, friendly employees.
*** I won't go to into detail given this is a follow up review.
I had not been back to Alana's in a few months and finally found some time to come back! I was reminded why I love this cafe. First, the aroma of freshly roasted coffee is wonderful. They really care about their quality and have tasty drinks.
Second, the baristas are always welcoming and friendly. Lastly, I love the back patio! They have great wifi, shade, and outdoor outlets which make working from here a pleasure. I love it here.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Oct 21, 2021Previous reviewThis may be my favorite coffee shop In LA.
I came in with a friend around 1 pm as we needed a spot to study for our exams. The aroma of freshly roasted beans wafts throughout the block. You enter the establishment and go line up by the register on the right side.
The guava croissant looked decadent, although all pastries were sold out by the time It was my turn. I ordered the 12 oz pour over coffee (they also have 16oz). I asked what variety they had available and it was the bubble gum from Colombia which was perfect given it caught my eye. They have a few interesting single origin varieties that you can take home and brew yourself.
The patio is very spacious and well shaded. A great place to study as the wifi is great, clean restrooms and very welcoming.
I highly recommend this coffee shop as it is easily one of the best in the areas and very spacious. - Apr 8, 2024
Such a great coffee shop in Venice! Even though the parking lot is small, there is plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of shaded areas.
The staff were fantastic - it was my first time visiting, and even though there was a line, the cashier had no problem answering my questions and explaining bits of the menu to me. I ended up ordering a Black Iced Tea with vanilla syrup and a splash of oat milk. I heard they are known for their delicious vanilla syrup, so I was excited to try. Overall I enjoyed it, and it wasn't too sweet!
I need to come back to try the Pirate's Chai (matcha based chai)! It sounds so intriguing, and I've never had anything like it before.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2024
This place lives up to the hype, with beautiful pastries, and a huge outdoor patio in the back. They have lots of coffee items, and the staff was incredibly kind. It's a pretty small space inside, because people stay and do work, but it's worth it for the patio in the back. It's also right down the street from the beach! I got an iced chai, which was great, and an Arnold Palmer to go because it was a warm day. I wrote more about it on my account, @coffeemeetsbaby

Great spot for good quality in house roasted coffee and chai teas etc. usually very full mornings until about 11am-12noon ish then it thins out a bit and you have a table spot . Friendly staff, customers, and pets. All are welcome here.
The equipment/roasters , line, entrance, flow is quite odd but manageable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2024
I met a friend for coffee at Alana's and we had a great experience.
Crowd/parking: I went around 7:30am and there were several open parking spaces. There were two people in line ahead of me but the line moved quickly.
Service: we took our coffee to go, but the baristas were friendly and gave my friend's dog a treat! (Dog friendly)
The interior is CUTE! Lots of hanging plants and an area in the back where you can see how the coffee beans are made. They also have an awesome back patio, which was totally empty since it was 40 degrees this morning.
My iced oat milk latte was great and my friend enjoyed her pour over. We did not try any food options. I will definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
