Nice place to eat breakfast got rained out and went right in ordered a coffee and a omelette
Fast service and friendly staff

Small town home cooking and atmosphere. Friendly service. Definitely recommend!
(And they have pies made by the 99year old original owner that are just good eatin!)

Stopped here on way to Smith Mtn Lake located right on highway. This is the locals breakfast and lunch place. They do have table service with small amount of tables. Nice staff greets you. Menu is your typical small Town diner food. Food was good at a reasonable price. Would stop again.

Home cooking??? Hmm, me thinks not. Fair prices and reasonable service but the quality of the food was quite disappointing. Business started in 1947, whoever started it then probably wouldn't eat there today. Pretty stale fare.

Excellent food at a fair price. This is like grandmas cooking. The marks burger and the Mabel burger were excellent.

Just get the Carls burger if your hungry. Fresh ground beef served with excellent fries. I hear breakfast is great to, but I've never had it.

Mine and my kids favorite! Breakfast served all day is a plus. Hot plates.... everything is good.

Excellent service! Delicious breakfast! The French toast is better than homemade. The sausage is just right. Everything we have tried is very good!

Decent good ole American food, however horrible service unless you have the same color skin.

This was our first time eating at Carl's, although we have passed it a few times on our way to Rocky Mount. The food was good (we had breakfast items) but the service not so much. Our waitress didn't know how to make a coffee with hot chocolate , and once the food was delivered, she never came back to check on us (not even for refills). We had to get up for coffee refills and pancake syrup (which was not brought to us). The bacon was also forgotten and once it was brought to the table, it was chewy and some pieces were burnt (so we sent it back). I do like that they serve breakfast all day (which is hard to find around here). All in all, I am willing to try again, as several lunch and dinner menu items looked and sounded good, but we probably won't go back at noon time.
