The Best Quality Men's Store in Chicago
I have been buying much of my wardrobe from Larry and Louise for the past 30 years. From Harlem Avenue, to State Parkway, to Lincoln Park..... Larry knows what I like and guides me in that direction. To my delight, Larry offers Custom made suits, sports coats, and slacks, made from the finest Italian fabrics from incredible Italian tailors within 4 weeks at less than half the price you will spend elsewhere due to his relationships with traveling back to Milan a couple times a year. More importantly, Larry, Louise and their family are such GOOD people!!!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael C.Chicago, IL527Jul 8, 2010

Sweet-talking Chicago-establishment salesmen will attempt to sell you whatever they need to sell, regardless of fit. Clothing at a seemingly steep discount because their original prices were intentionally way off the supply/demand curve. Even with the discount, they're not exactly pushing merchandise.
I purchased a shirt that I had serious doubts about fitting me, even though the salesperson insisted that it'd be a good fit; it was also their house-name shirt. I trusted the salesperson's experience and word that "[they] wouldn't be in business if they couldn't tailor a shirt." In any case, his word was completely worthless. After alteration, and having my hopes up, the shirt was just as ill-fitting as it was when I had tried it on for the first time.
I also noticed the stitching on the sleeve placket was very sloppy (yet identically sloppy on both sleeves). A very poor showing. I've gotten better value from Sears, for what it's worth.
I have very slight build, just about fitting into a 36R suit jacket. This clown was trying to upsell me, throwing 38Rs a 40Rs on me, all lauding how fantastic his rags fit me--yet the jacket's shoulders came off mine, i had room for two arms in each sleeve, and about 30 lbs worth of room in the chest.
Some other fool salesmen greeted me with "did we take care of you or what!?" when I came in to pick up the shirt. That was the cherry! Fantastic service all around.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joe T.Cincinnati, OH99105Feb 23, 2010First to Review
Very friendly staff, although maybe a little too eager to make a sale. They frequently advertise a 1/2 off sale on their fine Italian silk suits. The selection was impressive, if you're in the market for a $1500 suit at a significant discount.
The company has no website and the salesperson I spoke to seemed ignorant of online marketing tools, including Yelp. I believe the company is locally owned and has a very small staff.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Bernie G.Washington, DC035Jul 20, 2015Updated review
Everything I said in my earlier reviews still stand. Larry, Michael and Louse really, really know their products and business like very few other merchants or sales people. The selection of merchandise and quality is absolutely unequaled. I have some Alberto jeans from there that are quite difficult to find anywhere in the USA. Their shirt selection is unbelievable! Likewise their jacket selections and now their shoe selections.
. No trip to or through Chicago would ever be complete without checking their new stock out. It is an AMAZING experience. Like many of the wonderful things and places in life, I stumbled onto it quite by accident. Go see for yourself.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 9, 2014Previous reviewOne year later and another visit here. This store is truly, truly OUTSTANDING It has been a long, long time since I have seen this kind of top quality merchandise selection, and a very, very knowledgeable staff. I feel like I am cheating them for only giving them 5 stars. If there were more stars they would certainly earn them!!
Over the years I have learned to like Haupt shirts. It is a German brand of shirts and they are very, very good shirts. There are only a few places, that I know of, in the US that carry them. Here they have more selection than all the other stores combined. Unbelievable is the entire experience!May 6, 2013Previous reviewHow I wish I had discovered this gem of a store many years ago. However, bettrer late than never. I have made up for lost time with my purchases. This store is a gem ,hidden in plain view, in every possible way. The European ,merchandise selection, the extraordinary quality of the merchandise, the extraordinary customer service, on and on it goes.
As someone who has spent very large amounts of time living, studying and working in Europe, this store ranks with the absolute very best that I have ever seen in Europe. It is an amazing shopping experience in every way. - Alex F.South Loop, Chicago, IL1565Sep 20, 2017
I walked into the store to see what it was about and was impressed with the quality and variety of merchandise. What I was not impressed with was the pushy sales guy who pretty much made me buy a shirt after trying it on. Not to mention they do not allow any sort of returns but conveniently leave that out of any conversation. What store doesn't have a return policy or makes you buy things after you try them on? For this reason I probably won't go back. Just make sure to push back on the sales people if they guilt trip you into buying something

Dei Giovani is a great place to buy upscale men's clothing. I have been shopping with Larry for only 5 years, but my family (5 uncles) have been shopping with Larry and his team for many, many years.
I was first introduced to Larry and his team (Barry & Adam) when I started my first full-time job out of college (I wear a suit Monday-Friday). I am not a shopping fanatic, but after my first experience at Dei Giovani I honestly look forward to walking through the revolving door on Madison and Wells.
Larry is a salesman at heart and truly care about his customers and staff. He has some corny lines and some cheesy jokes and is always overly enthusiastic, but he has great clothes, the materials are hand picked in Italy and tailored to fit in Chicago (how can you beat that??) and if there is ever a problem (or you put on a few pounds like I have) take your outfit back to him and the team will make all the necessary adjustments. I get compliments on my suits, shirts, ties and shoes on a regular basis, and the best part about it no one has the same cloths as me. That makes me unique and memorable which is extremely important in my business.
I moved to Indianapolis 3 years ago. I was worried when I moved away that I would need to find a new tailor and clothier, but my connection to Dei Giovani lives on. Larry still calls to check in and I recently got a "Season's Greetings" card from him and his team (handwritten) which prompted me to write this review. Whenever I am in need of a new shirt, a suit, tie, etc. I simply pick up the phone call Larry and they ship me whatever I need. It could not be easier.
Whenever I have a free chance when I get back up to Chicago I attempt to visit Larry and his team even if I'm not buying. They are great for a laugh and its always nice to see what new suits they have on the racks. Larry and his team are like family and I wouldn't do business any other way.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John M.Elmhurst, IL02Jun 23, 2011
I have been a loyal customer of Dei Giovani for the past 5 years. My experience has been nothing short of outstanding. I consider Larry and his team experts in men's design and fashion. I also consider them to be a friend who truly cares about making sure I look the best I can.
Today I am proud to have established a fantastic collection of clothing that takes me from weekend wear to formal events. Most of all, my wife loves how I now dress and their unique offering is rarely copied by the name brand stores.
If you decide to take a look, remember this rule. Any suit looks good on a hanger. It takes a designer and tailor to select and fit one that looks great on you! JohnHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - R. T.Woodbridge, VA01Oct 6, 2010
Very nice store with an exceptionally friendly staff. The Italian suit selection is outstanding! This is a store for the discerning gentleman. That is, if you're into quality Italian apparel, Larry and his staff will surely fix you up!
Previous reviews have suggested that the staff there is somewhat aggressive about making a sale. However, (although that wasn't my personal experience), that's what sales people do! (Just say NO, if necessary...) Nevertheless, you can be certain that the clothing items that they do promote are of unquestionable quality, and they go the extra mile to ensure a proper fit, while striving for customer satisfaction. I genuinely believe that customer satisfaction, and retention, is important to them. I think that if you simply relax, and let them do what they do, (i.e. say YES to what you do want, and NO to what you don't), in the final analysis, you will be satisfied.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
