This is such a fun spot to sit with a friend, and catch up over coffee and dessert. On the menu it mentioned that the bakery is 125 years old. I love old school New York places. There is a charm to them that is difficult to replicate.
I ordered a lobster tail, which was so big, I had to get a box to finish it at home. My friend got a Negroni and a double shot of espresso. She also got rainbow cookies. We chatted with a neighboring table. It was a really cute experience. I definitely recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 17, 2024
This is definitely an overdue review. Ferrara Bakery & Cafe is one of my favorite spots to grab some dessert in Little Italy. After living in NYC, I developed a love for cannolis (and other Italian desserts) and Ferrera Bakery & Cafe has continued to be my go-to place for many of my sweet tooth cravings. They are definitely a popular destination as this place always seems to be packed no matter what time of day I visit. With an option to dine in and order from the cafe portion of the establishment or to place an order to go, customers are always lined up to enjoy the goodies at this establishment.
Over the years, I have enjoyed everything from the tricolor rainbow cookies, to lobster tails, to gelato, and much more. As noted, my favorite dessert to pick up here are the cannolis. The filling is always generous and on point. The shell has the perfect crunch to complement it. My husband and I recently stopped by and the line seemed to be long as it wound outside the building. Staff did an excellent job of keeping the line moving and filling orders with a smile and accuracy.
This is definitely a must stop for us (and for anyone looking for a recommendation) when craving some dessert in or around Little Italy. If you have the time, dine in the cafe. However, taking your dessert on the go to enjoy a nice stroll in this area of NYC, especially in the evening, is just as lovely. Enjoy!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fayee T.Fort Lauderdale, FL0153826Mar 16, 2024Updated review1 check-in

Always busy even on a Monday
Variety of mouth watering sweets choices and drinks
Our choices: cannoli, eclair and tartufo all Ahhhh so delicious , outstanding and so yummy yummy
However , what upset us is we waited too long and our coffee orders never came in even though we reminded the waiter and we had to leave without it ! - Apr 30, 2024
Such a nice way to end my day in Little Italy. We decided to dine in for dessert because the line was pretty long for people that were ordering to go. I was seated instantly and ordered the Trio Sampler of gelato. I got the Vanilla, Salt & Caramel and Stracciatella. I'm usually more of an ice cream person but it was good! Light and the flavors came through but weren't too strong. Also it was nice to be at a dessert place that's been around for over 125 years.

Iconic. Italian bakery heaven! There's nothing like that smell - just like my Aunt Mary's kitchen when I was a little girl. Huge selection! Everything we bought was delicious - various cannolis, tiramisu, cookies. I so wish I lived nearby to frequent this bakery on the regular

Came to Ferrara for a famous canoli. Almost didn't wait in the super long line because we felt like we had limited time in NYC and maybe we didn't want to spend it in a line. Then one of our party had the great idea to just go in and get seated. We sat right down and probably got our food sooner than if we had stayed in line.
As far as comparing cannolis to find the best one in NYC- I can't say. But I can say that chocolate bomb we ate (Isabelle?) was probably the best thing I ate in NYC on that trip. It was such good mousse and the cherry in the middle was perfect. My friends thought the tiramisu was the best they ever had.
Also- loved our friendly and fun Italian waiter. He was the perfect addition to complete our experience here.
Definitely recommend and would return!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 29, 2023
As good as it gets. Even with the Christmas break crowd, huge crowd, we were still able to sit at a table with barely any wait. We definitely had to vie for her attention, more directly that I prefer, but all ok.
Had what I consider one of the top 3 lobster tails in my life. Also had an Italian cheesecake with perfect proportions of flavors - orange, cheese, flavor and form. The gelato hit the spot too.
Coffee was outstanding, complex, dark, not bitter.
Unfortunately the hot chocolate looked amazing but it was barely warm.
The waitress, bless her, started by asking the kids if they wanted a hot chocolate! Dirty trick! Who's going to say no? lol. All good, when you're happy and the kids are happy, anything goes in life.Helpful 6Thanks 2Love this 5Oh no 0 - Mar 4, 2024
Iconic stop in NYC. They had decorations up for Valentine's Day that were so cute and honestly would be a great place for a date spot. I love that there are so many well done options to choose from. We got the cookie platter and tiramisu with double espressos. Everything was creamy and delicious. The service was fast, but the tables are Very close together.

Beyond entertaining and delicious. Quick stop for his serenade and the rainbow cookie. Had to bring some home. Moist, almond flavored, chocolate--can't go wrong, can't miss it. Make sure you hear him sing.

My group of friends and I all stopped on the sidewalk when we smelled something delicious and our noses led us here. It was busy but they move quickly. Very small place. A little confusing with ordering and paying since coffee orders are on the left, pastries on the right. Reasonably priced for Little Italy. $8 for a gelato affogato with fresh espresso. $10 for a double scoop. $5 for a large cannoli.
I had the pistachio cannoli. It was beautiful but very clearly had food coloring in it. The filling was light and not as rich or as flavorful as I had hoped but still delicious. The crushed pistachios on the outside were great. I wish the cannolis were filled to order. The cannoli was still crisp and fresh because they have a high turnaround and are constantly baking fresh ones but it would have been nice for it to be done on the spot. My friend raved about her traditional cannoli.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
